Inform - Broadband Networks

This coming January, my first article for Inform magazine will be published (http://www.virginiaarchitecture.org/inform_index.jsp) .  I'll be doing a serious of technology related articles for Inform, at least for the near-term future.  Inform is a magazine that presents architecturally oriented articles from and about Virginia-based design firms.  While my technology articles may not always directly address architectural issues, their content will be beneficial to the design profession.  In other words the subjects of these articles will most likely be tangential to most professionals seeking to benefit from current trends in technology.  The first article focuses on the emergence of broadband technologies and the proliferation of such technologies through the development of network capable devices like laptops, mobile devices, etc.   A lot of these devices are going beyond the geographical constraints of WiFi technology to allow network connections via the same pipelines upon which cellphones operate.  So wherever you can receive and send a phone call on your cellphone/smartphone/iPhone etc, you can also hook into the WWW.   I'd rather that the article was read, so I'll see if it will be posted online.  Most likely if you're reading this, you've read the article so I won't re-elaborate just yet.  What's most important about this blog entry though is that the sources that I used for the broadband article are made available.  For just about all of the technology articles that I write, I'll have accompanying links saved on delicious.com.  So take a look at http://delicious.com/broadbandnetworks for these sources.  Should be an interesting resource ...

i will not catch up

i have not been able to do much justice to this blog thus far.  i've been busy migrating our Xserve from 10.4 to 10.5, from PPC to Intel, from Apache 1.3 to 2.2 and MySQL 4 to 5.  anyway it's been a lot to chew on lately and has preoccupied a lot of my writing time.
